You can’t grow your business without building your team, but startups don’t typically have the capital to offer competitive salaries to employees during early stages of development. That doesn’t mean you can’t attract and fairly compensate your team, though: Many startups offer equity compensation, a non-cash form of payment that gives employees ownership in the organization. Equity compensation may be offered as options, restricted stock or performance shares.
If you’d like to learn how to implement equity compensation in your startup, you’re invited to join our first MicroBREW event on June 23 at 4:00 p.m. at the Baton Rouge Water Campus. Bill Ellison and Ben Brodnax of Innovation Catalyst will walk you through the different types of equity compensation, as well as how to set up and manage your own equity compensation program.
